Echo Yachts first major fibreglass infusion
On Thursday last week, our fibreglass team infused the largest ever section of a mold in one go and the most complicated layup ever done in Australia. This is a new Australian record in GRP boat building.
The process is done by laying all of the fibreglass, foam and carbon fibre dry on the mold, then ‘bagging’ the whole lot and pulling down the entire unit to 100 kpa in a vacuum. The vacuum then pulls the resign through all of the fibreglass and foam and it is all done in one go.
This is the most difficult of the infusions we have to do on the project we are building, and it was 100% successful.
On 1 March we will be ready to release 3D models of what we are building, so stay tuned for that day!
